How to care for my Andersen Charge Point?

21st Aug 2018 3 Min Read

We can all do with some easy maintenance stuff in our lives. My first dishwasher arrived just before the birth of my first baby (I was 38 years old). Goodness knows why I waited that long (for the dishwasher!). Now with the business and 2 kids to juggle, quality time is even more precious.

My deeply held reliance on the dishwasher forces me to pay for its overpriced deep cleaning products. The price goads me a little, but I figured that I’d rather pay and have it work then not pay and be miserable should it break down because I didn’t look after it properly… So with this being said, I decided to write this week’s blog about caring for your charge point.

HOW TO CARE FOR MY ANDERSEN CHARGE POINT

Models A1 & A2

Your Andersen charge point is crafted and built to the highest physical and electronic standards. All our charge points are handmade to order from our factory in the UK by long-established British manufacturers. With regular care, you can expect your charge point to provide reliable, elegant and safe charging for years to come.

This guide has been put together to ensure your new charge point provides years of easy, elegant charging.

After installation, your charge point is immediately ready to be used.

TOP CAP

Remember to keep placing the protective cap on top of your connector. Regular covering ensures water/rain will not enter the connector.

ABOUT YOUR ACCOYA WOOD FRONT

Your Accoya front is a completely non-toxic, recyclable and 100% biodegradable wood that matches and exceeds the durability of most tropical hardwoods.

We hand spray each front with Teknos, a high performance, translucent coating system that further protects and enhances the definition of the timber.

Your Accoya front is robust and durable straight out of the box. With exposure to sunlight, rain and frost and heat the Andersen Accoya fronts have minimal distortion. It’s important to note that over time, with exposure to UV light, the colour of the wood will change to become slightly lighter in colour. We think that this change should be seen and enjoyed as part of the natural ageing process and a characteristic seen in all woods.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR ACCOYA WOOD FRONT

Simple steps such as wiping down the wood front with a damp cloth on a regular basis to remove dirt and insects will help extend the wood’s lifespan.

If mould or algae are present, clean the surface with warm water and a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water. Wipe dry with a cloth.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR METAL FRONTS AND METAL CHASSIS

Simple wiping down with warm water and a soft cloth is all that is required. For those that are willing, running cotton buds into the groove on the Andersen A1 and A2 fronts can help remove unwanted dirt and dust and insects.

CLEANING INSIDE THE PLUG COMPARTMENT

When needed, lift the lid and using a damp cloth wipe inside the plug compartment.

CLEANING THE MAIN CHASSIS

The main chassis is designed to safely allow water to run through it. **Do not operate the charge point when cleaning** **Do not unscrew any fixed parts to access any unseen areas**. **Remember to place the cap back onto the charger first**. The electronics within the unit are further waterproofed inside by their own covers.

TESTING OF THE RCD (CIRCUIT BREAKER)  ONLY FOR ANDERSEN A1

It is recommended to test your circuit breaker every three months. Open the flap at the bottom of the unit – press the test button and the switch will turn itself off. Move the switch back to the on position and check the standby LED comes back on. This can be repeated, then close the cover over the switch – it should snap closed to ensure that the Andersen A2 remains waterproof.

LOOKING AFTER THE CABLE

Checked regularly for any signs of damage, cuts etc. If any damage is seen then the A2 should be turned off at the RCD at the bottom, and the charger not used, and then contact Andersen technical department for further advice.

CHECK THE OUTSIDE OF THE ENCLOSURE FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE

Check the outside of the enclosure for any signs of damage. Although the metal enclosure is very strong somebody or something could have hit the enclosure – if so please contact Andersen.
